Club Rivers in Riverwood, NSW, owned a valuable parcel of land across the road from their main venue — a flat car park with approximately 35 spaces. While functional, it was underutilised and generated little value for the club or its members. With car parking at a premium due to Riverwood Railway Station nearby, and a growing member base to cater for, the club needed to reimagine the site to maximise its return and create new opportunities for members
The Solution

At the main club site, JRK Surveys also supported the development of The Canopy — a rooftop indoor–outdoor space created by building above a narrow ground-level admin car park. The Canopy features an operable glass roof, balcony breakout area, and adds 200sqm of premium hospitality space, enhancing the club’s food, beverage, and events offering.
The Impact
A better use of otherwise underused land
The redevelopment has delivered significant long-term value. The new car park provides far more than the original 35 spaces, easing congestion and improving accessibility for members. The additional two levels of commercial office space generate rental income, while also drawing new patrons to the club. The Canopy has become a standout feature, offering 80 seated or 100 standing capacity, and has quickly grown into a popular choice for community events, cocktail functions, and casual social gatherings.
